JASPER® Driveline Division Wraps Up Successful 2017 Racing Season
2017 was a great year for Driveline Division of Jasper Engines and Transmissions. Five out of the top ten drivers, racing in the Monster Energy NASCAR® Cup Series drove cars equipped with JASPER products. One of those included the champion of the series Martin Truex, Jr. who drives for Furniture Row Racing.
Monster Energy NASCAR® Cup Series cars that are equipped with JASPER products accounted for 21 wins, 103 top-five finishes, 189 top-ten finishes, and earned 21 pole position starts in 2017.
“Overall, our 2017 went really well,” said Terry Dekemper, JASPER Driveline Division Manager. “We were extremely busy throughout the year, but our season went smoothly, with no major issues.”
“It’s truly a testament to the strength and durability of our driveline products,” Dekemper added.
Many drivers this season such as Martin Truex, Erik Jones, Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Kurt Busch and Danica Patrick all used the single-rail version of the Jasper 4 Speed Transmission, this allows a single external rail to rotate and move internal forks to engage the four forward gears.
While other drivers including Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth and Daniel Suarez in the Monster Energy NASCAR® Cup Series, and NASCAR® Xfinity Series drivers Ryan Preece, Christopher Bell, Erik Jones, Blake Koch and Matt Tifft. Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth were also among Joe Gibbs Racing drivers in the NASCAR® Xfinity Series used the three-rail 4-speed transmission.
“Our success can be attributed to our engineering staff and Associates within the department with many years of experience,” Dekemper said. “We are all working together to produce a great overall product.”
